Thorney Island Nursery operates within the childcare industry, providing essential early childhood education and care for children aged 9 months to 4 years, as well as offering breakfast and after school care for children aged 4-11 years that attend Thorney Island Primary school. We are open term time only 7.30-5.30pm Monday to Thursday and Friday 7.30-3pm.

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Thorney Island Nursery in providing nutritious meals for our young learners. The hours are 2-5pm (maybe 5.30pm) Monday to Thursday and 8.30-1.30pm on a Friday, term time only. This role is vital in ensuring that our children receive healthy and balanced meals.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals for children
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen
  • Ensure food safety standards are met at all times
  • Support meal service during tea time
  • Assist with inventory management of kitchen supplies
  • Collaborate with staff to create a positive dining experience for children
  • Follow dietary restrictions and special requests as needed
  • Participate in kitchen team meetings and training sessions
