Job description
Job Overview

We are looking for a Kubernetes Platform Engineer for our Innovation & Technology department in London. The role is based in the United Kingdom, City of London, and is a full‑time permanent position. The remaining opening is one and the position is titled "Kubernetes Platform Engineer – Innovation & Technology @ Berenberg".

In an era where digitalisation and modern IT infrastructure are revolutionising banking, we are shaping a technology‑driven bank. You will work closely with our business units and participate in support and further development of legacy systems, as well as the introduction of modern technologies such as AI, machine learning and highly automated trading applications.

Responsibilities
  • Design, set up and manage our K8s clusters across various datacentres, building a value‑add on‑prem, bare‑metal platform with the option to expand into the cloud when required.
  • Collaborate closely with datacentre infrastructure and network engineers and contribute to the monitoring and observability domain.
  • Apply DevOps practices, including code review, automated testing and release pipelines.
  • Operate in an environment protected by Privileged Access Management (PAM).
Qualifications
  • Strong background in UNIX/Linux (Ubuntu & Red Hat).
  • Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes administration and best‑practice usage (must).
  • Desirable experience with Calico Enterprise.
  • Solid networking knowledge, especially TCP/IP, routing tables, VLAN/VRF concepts, BGP.
  • Proficiency in Bash, Python, Ansible, Terraform, Helm and Git.
  • Experience working in a DevOps environment with code review, automated testing and release pipelines.
  • Comfortable working in a PAM‑protected environment.
