Overview

An exciting opportunity within the newly developed division of Urgent and Emergency Care for the position of Junior Sister/Registered Practitioner in our Emergency Department.

You will work with all members of the department clinical teams and within the wider multidisciplinary team. You will maintain a high standard of patient care, working alongside the senior sister/registered practitioner in charge and accepting delegated responsibility for the provision of professional and managerial leadership for the patients in the Emergency Department.

At all times, you will work in accordance with the principles governed by the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC), Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and Trust Policies. You will participate in developing action plans, protocols and pathways to ensure continuous quality improvement for the service, contributing to the strategic development of patient and health care services. You will deputise for the senior sister/registered practitioner in charge as appropriate, while the senior nurse/senior registered practitioner in charge remains in the department. Encourage staff to embrace a culture of change and to ensure commitment to achieving and sustaining high standards of patient care and clinical practice.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Senior Sisters and Charge Nurses in Charge in delivering safe patient care and maintaining high quality standards within the Emergency Department.
  • Help ensure the department meets its Key Performance Indicators; deliver care in a compassionate manner within the Emergency Department.
  • Work with department clinical teams and the wider multidisciplinary team to maintain high standards of care and professional leadership.
  • Participate in developing action plans, protocols and pathways to support quality improvement and strategic development of patient and health care services.
  • Deputise for the senior sister/registered practitioner in charge as appropriate, with training and support as needed.
  • Encourage a culture of change and continuous improvement in clinical practice and patient care.
Qualifications
  • Registered professional with the NMC (Nursing & Midwifery Council) or HCPC (Health & Care Professions Council) registration, in line with the role of Junior Sister/Registered Practitioner.
  • Positive, progressive and forward-thinking attitude; enthusiastic, flexible and committed to delivering high quality care for patients.
  • Management and team leadership skills are desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.
