If you're looking for a meaningful challenge, and want to help shape the future of automotive experiences, then read on…

About the role

As a JuniorQA Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software. You'll help support the QA team to take ownership of quality across the development lifecycle, combining test automation with hands-on verification to deliver a seamless user experience.

You'll be responsible for performing manual validation and to catch edge cases that automation might miss. Beyond just testing, you'll act as a quality advocate—collaborating with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to identify risks, improve test strategies, and tackle quality challenges across teams.

What you’ll do
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Playwright.
  • Perform manual testing with a strong analytical approach to identify edge cases and potential issues.
  • Working with and shadowing senior members of the team in driving quality throughout our code bases
  • Maintain quality across multiple engineering disciplines
  • Conduct API testing to ensure robust and reliable integration between services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and DevOps, to understand requirements and provide quality assurance feedback.
  • Conduct mobile testing to guarantee seamless user experiences across devices.
  • Report defects clearly and concisely, track issues through to resolution, and participate in retrospective reviews for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain and enhance test documentation, including test cases, test plans, and bug reports.
What you’ll need
  • Manual testing skills with an analytical mindset and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with GitHub Actions or other CI/CD tools for test integration and deployment pipelines.
  • Interest in Automation testing predominantly using Playwright
  • Basic knowledge of a programming language (Typescript/Python preferred) with a keen interest to learn.
  • Understanding of API testing, including tools like Postman or similar.
  • A positive can-do attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate issues and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working in an Agile environment
Nice to Have
  • Mobile testing experience across iOS and Android platforms
  • Familiarity with other test automation tools and frameworks
What we’ll give you
  • Compensation: We offer a competitive salary + performance based bonus
  • Holidays: We want you to relax, you’ll have 28 days off (plus bank holidays) throughout the year. We also give you an extra day off to enjoy your birthday!
  • Benefits + Perks: With private medical insurance, learning and development opportunities and mental health support we’ll give you the extra boost.
  • Hybrid Working: We have a flexible working culture here at heycar. With hybrid working in our offices in Holborn (London) and working from home days.
  • Feedback: You'll be joining more than just another scale up - our team are at the heart of everything we do; here we don’t leave things unsaid, we encourage honest feedback.
  • A Challenge: Fast paced but not fraught. So we need you to keep up, push back and question where you see fit.
  • Fun: We provide a fully stocked kitchen and bar, an awesome office environment and epic socials.
