Job description

An exciting opportunity within Orthopaedics at Royal Free Hospital site for a Junior Clinical Teaching Fellow who will conduct teaching activities and undertake educational research relating to trauma & orthopaedic surgery, develop, coordinate & participate in a teaching programme for undergraduates in trauma & orthopaedic surgery with the support of the undergraduate teaching lead and UCL Medical school.

The department provides teaching in trauma & orthopaedic surgery to undergraduate students from UCL. The post holder is required to assist in organisation & delivery of teaching to medical students rotating through the Royal Free Hospital during their placement in T&O surgery, to help in establishing systems for delivery of training across the orthopaedic sub-specialities.

The post will also give experience in ward work, assessment of patients in outpatient setting & assisting in theatres. On call is a 1:8 rota supporting the hospital at night involving working in general & vascular surgery and urology as well as trauma & orthopaedic surgery.

This is a 12 month fixed term post, subject to satisfactory appraisal with the Undergraduate Teaching Lead, suited to candidates who have completed FY2 training & above who wish to gain entry to the Core Surgical training programme wishing to gain experience in teaching & Orthopaedics to build their portfolio. The post may involve cross-site working with opportunities to join the wider team for educational and training purposes.
