Overview

The MBDA Business Degree Apprenticeship offers two streams within the Business Degree Apprenticeship: Business and Sales & Business Development (SBD). You will gain a unique insight into various functions across MBDA and, by the end of the four-year programme, begin the next stage of your career in a part of the business you’ve experienced and want to continue developing in. We consider applicants for both streams unless you specify interest in only one.

The MBDA opportunity supports the life cycle of our products with placements that develop a wide range of skills and expertise across our Business and Support functions.

Streams and Placements
  • Business stream – Placements include:
    • Project Management - Managing planning, costs and risk mitigation across projects and platforms
    • Commercial - Liaising with MBDA’s customers to support commercial agreements and overall business objectives
    • Procurement - Managing relationships with UK and overseas suppliers, subcontract management, and negotiating & influencing
    • Supply Chain - Managing supplier performance through risk assessments and mitigation
  • SBD (Sales and Business Development) stream – Placements include:
    • Commercial Operations - Export campaigns, bid and commercial management
    • Group Business Development - Developing product and international strategies
    • Export Sales - Liaising with current and prospective export customers
    • UK National Sales - Engaging with UK Government and Armed Forces to deliver offerings
    • Technical Military Operations - Technical understanding of MBDA products and marketing support
    • International Industrial Cooperation - International offset and participation policies
    • Market Development - Supporting UK Export opportunities with the UK Ministry of Defence

Annual leave and flexible working: 25 days of annual leave per calendar year (plus holiday purchase) and up to 15 days flexi leave. There is also study leave during exam periods. You will spend summers in MBDA international offices, subject to restrictions, gaining cross-national exposure and language development.

Programme Structure

You will study towards a BA (Hons) degree in Business Management at the University of Hertfordshire for 4 years, fully funded by MBDA. The programme is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute. You will attend university one day a week and work in rotational placements when not at university. The course delivery blends virtual and face-to-face learning.

What We're Looking For

This role has specific qualification and subject criteria. Please check eligibility before applying. If you are currently studying and are predicted to meet the requirements by the start date, you are welcome to apply.

  • GCSEs: Minimum 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4, including English Language and Mathematics.
  • Post-GCSEs: You must have one of the following achieving 120 UCAS Tariff points:
    • 3 x A levels (minimum grade C) including an A-level in a business-related subject
    • BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma (minimum DDM) in a business-related subject
    • T-Level at Merit or Distinction in a business-related subject

We evaluate entry criteria based on your top three full A Levels or equivalent qualifications. UCAS points from Extended Project Qualification are not included. Our entry criteria may differ from university requirements.
