An exciting opportunity has arisen for an IT Test Analyst to join our IT Testing Team at Hampshire County Council.

The Role:

As a Test Analyst, your role will be varied, and you will have the opportunity to test a wide range of applications and websites. You will be expected to understand technical specifications and to produce appropriate documentation to support the testing process.

What you’ll do:
  • Write appropriate documentation, including test strategies, plans, cases and scripts
  • Agree plans for testing with stakeholders and co-ordinate testing activities
  • Carry out different types of testing, including functional, usability, integration, regression, performance and load testing
  • Identify and log defects in a defect tracking tool and manage defect resolution
  • Provide customer acceptance testing support before and during user testing
  • Communicate testing progress and issues to interested parties throughout the project life-cycle
  • Work independently on a project or as part of a team of testers
  • Work on multiple projects/activities at any one time
  • Provide advice and guidance on quality and testing
  • Ensure that testing is achieved within the allocated budget and time-frame
  • Use Azure DevOps to support the testing process
  • Use Microsoft Office Tools for administrative tasks
What we’re looking for:
  • Strong and proven background in software testing/web application testing
  • An enthusiasm for quality and appreciation of the importance of testing in the SDLC
  • Effective communication skills - oral, written and presentation
  • Able to establish effective working relationships with people at all levels
  • Self-motivated and able to use own initiative
  • Good organisational skills and approaches tasks methodically
  • Natural curiosity and good problem-solving skills
  • Pays attention to detail
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office Tools
  • Experience of working with a defect and task tracking tool (e.g. Azure DevOps)
  • Experience of working with a test management tool to create and run test cases, manage defects and track testing progress (e.g. Azure DevOps)
