Overview

Systems Engineer - Newry: Permanent, full time: £30,000 to £38,000 DOE

REED Technology are delighted to be partnered with one of Northern Ireland's leading Technology Organisations. This progressive and dynamic organisation are a market leader in their field and due to continued growth and success are currently seeking to add an additional Systems Engineer to their team.

The purpose of the role of Systems Engineer is to provide support to and ensure the effective and efficient running of the IT department and the high quality and fast-response service provision to all service users.

Key job responsibilities
  • Ensure that all enquires are dealt with on the day of receipt
  • Attend to mail, electronic mail and telephone calls daily
  • Deal with initial enquiries from all sources in a polite and professional manner
  • Consult task list daily
  • Attend to client queries, ensuring a prompt response to user needs
  • Provide sound advice to users regarding solutions
  • Ensure prompt response to users
  • Be proactive in keeping users updated
  • Adhering to the Quality of Work expectations and company procedures
  • Deal with tasks as appointed by the Helpdesk
  • Be proactive in gathering information on the issue circumstances in the initial call to assist in providing the solution as quickly and effectively as possible
  • Carry out issue investigations and make decision on the applicable solutions
  • Effectively liaise with all parties involved in the provision of service
  • Monitor ongoing issues
  • Completing periodical checks to ensure effective and efficient system performance
  • Record all non-conformances as per company procedure
  • Assist in future IT planning
  • Assist in the purchase of computer hardware and software and installing hardware and software as required
  • Ensuring all software used is properly licensed
  • Network Operations and Telephony
  • Training of users
  • Ensure that all documentation required has been received and that required documentation has been completed
  • Updating IT Manager on progress
  • Provide timely and effective feedback
  • Actively partaking in meetings as/when required
  • Request training identified to assist in being successful in the role and attend required training ensuring that a certificate of completion is forwarded to HR
  • Participation in appraisals and performance reviews to assess your overall performance, duties, training requirements and development.
Essential criteria
  • Third Level Education in computer related subjects
  • 3 years recent experience in all aspects of Networking, Windows Operating Systems
  • Experience of working in a user focused environment with the ability to capture user requirements, demonstrate excellent user service skills and show empathy for a user's situation
  • Ability to demonstrate good relationships with internal and external parties (this could include third party suppliers, end users etc.)
  • Demonstrable commitment to goals, objectives and vision of the organisation
  • A current and valid driving licence and access to personal transport for business use/or have access to a form of transport which will permit the applicant to meet the requirements of the post in full
