An opportunity has arisen for a IT Support Technician in the City of London, to be responsible for the support and maintenance of end user technology solutions (desktops, laptops and telephones), shared office technology solutions (printers and meeting room video conferencing systems) and undertaking 1st line triage and troubleshooting for all IT support issues. This includes procuring, building & deploying new devices, installing & upgrading software/firmware, troubleshooting issues with devices, applications or services and resolving issues. The role delivers a first line response to a wide variety of IT issues which may require escalation and support from other IT teams to resolve. The role is accountable for ensuring resolution or effective escalation of IT issues to meet IT Service Level Agreements.
Responsibilities
- Build, deploy and maintain desktop & laptop computers, including installing/upgrading software, troubleshooting & resolving issues, relocating equipment and securely decommissioning retired equipment
- Respond to user requests / tickets and deliver IT support within IT Service Level Agreements. Own issues until resolved or escalated to an appropriate IT team for resolution
- Log and update IT incidents, problems & changes in the IT ticketing system with sufficient detail
- Support users working in office locations or via remote access
- Procure IT hardware & software as required and maintain the IT asset inventory
- Manage external vendor contracts, relationships and performance including the review & approval of invoices
- Perform basic network and telephony support including network port & patching maintenance, desk & mobile telephone support and voice recording system support
- Perform basic application support and troubleshooting
- Develop understanding and knowledge of in-house and bespoke developed systems
- Undertake project work including evaluation of new technologies
- Provide regular progress updates or deliver reporting as required
- Assist with Audit & Compliance work, responding to requests as required
- Follow ADM, ADMIS & ADMISI corporate policies & procedures as applicable
- Be part of the IT shift rota covering the hours of 7:00am - 6:00pm on UK business days and UK Bank Holidays
- Work with minimal supervision, prioritise workload and escalate to Line Manager when support is required
Your Profile / Qualifications
- Good experience of PC hardware environments including:
- Dell - Desktops and workstations
- Laptops and tablets
- Printers
- Good experience of operating systems and software applications, ideally including:
- Windows 11 & Apple OS
- Microsoft applications including Office 365
- Reasonable experience of trading & market data platforms environments, ideally including:
- Reuters Trading, Trading Technologies, CQG, Fidessa
- LME, LSE, Eurex, ICE
- Reuters & Bloomberg
- Basic understanding in network technology & typology, ideally including:
- Basic Cisco switch configuration
- Basic network typology understanding and troubleshooting
- Basic understanding of communication hardware, platform environments and administration, ideally including:
- Patching & network cabling UTP, STP, CAT5, 6 and Fiber
- Zoom & Microsoft Teams
- Apple & Android smartphones
- Teams Recording - Redbox
- ISDN, SIP and lease lines
- Basic understanding of financial trading, risk management and back office systems
- Strong interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication abilities
- Basic understanding of Financial products and ITIL processes and standards
- University degree (ideally in Computer Science or related field)
- 5+ years’ experience working in an IT support role within Financial Services
