A software development company based in the UK is seeking an IT Manager who will treat security as a design challenge while ensuring compliance. The ideal candidate will understand Cyber Essentials and ISO 27001 requirements, and thrive in an Agile environment promoting autonomy. The role fosters a culture of collaboration and learning, encouraging candidates who can balance regulatory needs with empowering teams. Offering a range of benefits including a profit-related bonus and flexible working arrangements, this position is grounded in office at Redruth, Cornwall.
Full-time, Permanent, On Site
Are you the kind of IT professional who believes security should enable innovation, not stifle it? Do you understand the importance of building guardrails instead of walls? Would you like to prove that high‑compliance security and developer freedom can coexist? Are you looking for a role where your "customers" are the people you work with every day, and your success is measured by how well you listen to them?
At Bluefruit, that's exactly what we need.
Recognised worldwide for our Lean Agile practices and quality‑critical embedded software, we work with clients in medical devices, aerospace, and manufacturing. We’re at a pivotal moment: we need Cyber Essentials certification (and eventually ISO 27001), but we won’t sacrifice our culture of experimentation to get there. That's where you come in.
We're looking for an IT Manager who treats security as a design challenge, not a compliance checkbox. You understand that "Agile" means empowering teams, and you’re skilled at navigating the tension between regulatory rigour and engineering flexibility.
You have deep knowledge of Cyber Essentials requirements and a working understanding of ISO 27001 frameworks. You’re comfortable supporting Linux, Windows, and Mac environments. You believe automation should eliminate toil, and you hate doing the same manual task twice.
But here's what really matters: you’re an exceptional listener and negotiator. When someone asks for something that raises security concerns, you don’t just say "no." Instead, you dig deeper to understand what they’re actually trying to accomplish, then work with them to find a secure way to achieve it.
It would be beneficial if you had coding or scripting skills to automate security checks, or experience managing build servers and CI / CD infrastructure.
To thrive at Bluefruit, you should be curious, diplomatic, and genuinely enjoy the puzzle of fitting compliance requirements into Agile workflows. You’re proactive about finding root causes, not just quick fixes.
Formal academic qualifications aren’t required, but your ability to balance security with enablement should be second to none.
At Bluefruit, we don’t just talk about work / life balance
We actively encourage it. From flexible working hours, to letting our people create their own working environment, we work hard to ensure everyone here enjoys coming into work.
We are committed to providing training for everyone in the company to realise their potential. Our company was created by engineers for engineers and, as an EOT company, it’s important to us that all our people have a say in how we develop our business.
Our culture is built around an unerring focus on delivering high‑quality code for intelligent products that users love and clients value. We encourage efficient and open communication, and shared responsibility for design and implementation. And we review each other’s work all the time.
Everyone at Bluefruit constantly seeks out opportunities to learn and improve.
We’re privileged to live in one of the most beautiful parts of the UK and want time to enjoy it, so we focus on flexi‑time, not overtime.

Please note: Submissions will be checked for AI writing. While we are not opposed to the use of LLMs as creative tools, a heavy reliance on them will not be viewed favourably.
This role is based at our Redruth, Cornwall office, subject to a three‑month probationary period.
There are currently no remote or hybrid working opportunities available and we are only considering in‑office positions. Bluefruit places value on working in person with colleagues and providing opportunities to absorb our culture.
Should you be invited for interview please ensure that you would be able to attend our Redruth office in person and work in Cornwall from the outset. Applicants invited for interview will be asked to verify their right to live and work permanently in the UK prior to interview. We do not provide travel expenses, but a relocation package is available for the successful candidate.
We recruit on a rolling basis and fill our vacancies as soon as we find people who fit our culture and meet our skills requirements. Therefore, we recommend applying as soon as possible.
