Qualifications

  • Driving licence is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for IT incidents.

  • Complete daily checks and log all calls.
  • Install new equipment and ensure office maintenance.

Job description

HMP Altcourse have an exciting opportunity for an IT Engineer to join the team!

In this role, you will act as the first point of contact for incidents assigned to the prison's IT department, prioritising and managing cases to a successful conclusion. You will assist Sodexo employees in using various networks, CCTV, Alarm, Radios, and cell call systems, enabling them to use the equipment effectively. You will resolve IT issues independently where possible, and work with the Technical Operations Manager (where necessary) to identify problems, find workarounds and more permanent resolutions.

Main Responsibilities
  • Completion of daily checks.
  • Competition of daily tool checks and supporting documentation
  • Logging of all calls.
  • Processing of basic change requests e.g. new user setup, file/folder access, leaver forms
  • Escorting of 3rd party contractors
  • Production of FAQ guides for all supported systems
  • Take ownership of the ordering process for the site. Raising and tracking POs, placing orders, taking delivery of orders, completion of GRN forms and resolution of any issues with orders
  • Installation of new equipment: PCs, phones, scanners, printers.
  • General housekeeping e.g. Stock taking and control, ensuring the IT office is maintained to an acceptable standard reducing negating any health and safety risks.
  • Completion of the Quarterly security group audit

The Ideal Candidate
  • First-rate knowledge/familiarity with MS Office/Office 365 suite
  • Excellent knowledge of Windows 10 & 11
  • Previous experience in a First Line Systems support or similar IT role
  • Ability to work individually or as part of a pro‑active team.
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Able to obtain SC clearance & Disclosure Scotland
  • Driving licence would be advantageous
  • Ability to work outside normal office hours as dictated by projects/incidents
  • This position does involve some prisoner interaction
  • It also involves occasional travel and out of hours working
