Job description

Barnsley College is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic IT Apprentice to join our dynamic IT Services team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in a professional environment while working towards a nationally recognised qualification in Information Technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the installation and configuration of computer operating systems, applications, and hardware.
  • Provide first‑line technical support to staff and students via phone, email, and ticketing systems.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues under supervision.
  • Maintain accurate records of IT assets, deployments, and service requests.
  • Support the Service Desk team in resolving incidents and escalating complex issues when necessary.
  • Prepare and set up IT equipment for classrooms, offices, and events.
  • Follow College IT policies and procedures to ensure data security and compliance.
  • Keep up to date with industry developments and actively participate in training sessions.
