Overview

PIC has a fantastic opportunity for an Investment Analyst to join its PIC Capital department. The role involves responsibility for the analysis and execution of debt and equity investments and investment strategies, and requires the ability to effectively collaborate across the business within PIC as well as being the first point of contact for external stakeholders to transact efficient.

Specific accountabilities assigned to the role of Investment Analyst within the PIC Capital:

  • Work within the investment strategy team to critically appraise investment opportunities, including regular meetings with asset managers/investment agents, conducting market research, writing and presenting strategy papers and gaining internal support for the investment initiatives.
  • Work alongside investment lead in allocated area to manage transactions relating to key investment initiatives, for example, acting as principal in private equity real estate acquisitions, or as portfolio manager in the disposition of illiquid fund interests, as required.
  • Transactional accountabilities include project management, liaison with legal counsel, commercial negotiation of term sheets/ heads of terms and transaction documents (DFA/SPA etc), writing and presenting committee papers, building and reviewing financial models, working with Investment Risk, Credit Research Market Solutions and other internal stakeholders as required to close the transaction
  • Represent PIC at industry events, build PIC’s external network and share market intelligence internally
  • Take responsibility for continuing to build the private assets business at PIC, including constant improvement in processes, data analytics, management information and human capital: the investment analyst will seek to develop their own technical skillset through professional qualifications as well as developing junior members of the team

Experience:

  • Recognised qualification or working towards e.g. CFA/ACA and/or employment record in transactional role in private assets (debt or equity)
  • Demonstrable experience of working well in a team environment
  • Track record of successfully managing internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience in challenging the status quo and improving processes
  • Experience of conducting detailed research and applying findings
  • Experience working on transactions in relevant sectors, including UK real estate, infrastructure and private credit

Knowledge:

  • Good understanding of alternative assets including risk and return metrics, credit rating methodologies and documentation.
  • Knowledge of different asset classes and funding structures within the private asset universe.
  • Practical understanding of investing from a SUK balance sheet and knowledge of the matching adjustment.
  • Good knowledge of investment trends in key markets including UK real estate, infrastructure and private credit.

Skills:

  • Strong time management skills with proven ability to manage workload and appropriately prioritise deadlines and deliverables.
  • Strong organisational skills, e.g. ability to project manage a transaction.
  • Strong communication skills including ability to draft comprehensive investment papers and effectively present them to committees, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and strategic alignment.
  • Ability to persuade and influence both directly and indirectly
  • Ability to manage people and other resources effectively
  • Ability to organise work to meet deadlines
  • Very strong commercial acumen
  • Strong capability in MS office applications, especially Excel
  • Demonstrable resilience in doing new things/pushing boundaries
