Overview

Interservice Transfers – Joint Fire Control Room Operators

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service is offering an exciting opportunity for permanent Interservice Transferees to join our team as Joint Fire Control Room Operators, based in Salfords, Surrey. You’ll be supporting emergency response across Surrey, West Sussex, and East Sussex.

Role

Our Joint Fire Control operates 24/7, 365 days a year, handling emergency calls and mobilising fire engines and crews. Operators work a rotating 42-hour shift pattern, including days, nights, and weekends. As a Control Room Operator, you’ll:

  • Receive and manage emergency calls.
  • Mobilise resources to incidents across three counties.
  • Support other emergency services and partner agencies.
  • Play a vital role in public safety and incident management.
Salary & Benefits

£36,937 per annum (competent Firefighter Control).
Additional allowance of £1,690 per annum. Full training provided.

Selection Process

Appointment is subject to DBS check, social media vetting, medical clearance, and references.

Training

Successful candidates will attend a familiarisation programme.
