A reputable professional services provider based in the Midlands is seeking an Interim Group Financial Controller for a 6-month role, with a competitive day rate of £400 – £550. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end finance function including financial reporting and internal controls, and must be comfortable with hands-on finance tasks. Experience in professional services and managing finance systems is key. Hybrid working opportunities are available, but regular office attendance is essential.

Interim Group Financial Controller | High Growth Professional Services Business | Midlands

The Client

Harmonic are delighted to be working with a reputable professional Services provider, based in the Midlands, in their search for an Interim Group Financial Controller for an initial period of 6‑months, with the potential for this to be extended. Our client is backed by a top investor and has seen significant year‑on‑year growth since a change in leadership. The role will be based out their Central Midlands head office, working closely with the Managing Director and Group CFO. There is also the opportunity for hybrid working, however weekly travel to the office will be essential.

The Role

The role is ideal for an adaptable Financial Controller or Head of Finance who is experienced in the professional services space. This position will be responsible for the end‑to‑end finance function, so a strong background in internal controls, accounting, and reporting is essential, alongside a willingness to remain hands‑on with transactional finance, including AP and AR. Our client is also looking to roll out a new finance system, so experience with a system implementation / optimisation will be preferred.

Responsibilities

• Internal Controls.
• Financial Reporting.
• Work with the Group CFO to implement & roll out a new finance system.
• Work closely with tax advisors and authorities to ensure compliance.
• Budgeting, forecasting and scenario planning.
• Transactional finance (Credit control, sales & purchase ledger)
• Treasury management.
• Review and improve financial processes and controls.

Essential Skills

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
• Comfortable taking responsibility for an entire finance function.
• A willingness to roll up sleeves and get hands‑on with finance.
• Strong knowledge of multicurrency accounting.
• Excellent time‑management skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Attention to detail.

Day Rate £400 – £550 / day
