Job summary

Job description
Interim Financial Accountant | 3–6 Month Contract | Stroud

We are seeking a highly capable and experienced Interim Financial Accountant for a 3–6 month contract to support the finance function during a busy period. This role is ideal for someone who can quickly take ownership of responsibilities and operate autonomously while delivering high-quality financial reporting and control.

The Role

You will be responsible for the production of monthly financial accounts, supporting statutory and tax compliance, and ensuring strong financial controls are maintained. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, managing competing deadlines and engaging with senior stakeholders. There is a possibility of “temp to perm” for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly financial accounts, including group consolidation and intercompany eliminations, in line with reporting deadlines.
  • Lead the preparation of statutory accounts, corporation tax returns and compliance reporting.
  • Identify control-based improvements to systems and processes and support maintenance of the internal control framework in conjunction with Group Internal Audit.
  • Act as the main point of contact for external auditors, ensuring a smooth annual audit process through accurate and timely documentation.
  • Produce financial performance commentaries explaining key trends and variances.
  • Approve key financial transactions, including bank payments, supplier data updates and purchase orders.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider business on change and improvement initiatives.
Your Profile:
  • Fully qualified or qualified by experience (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or similar).
  • Proven experience in financial accounting, ideally in a group environment.
  • Able to work autonomously with minimal supervision and rapidly become effective in a new environment.
