Description

We are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Operations Engineer to join our high-performing IT team. In this role, you will support and enhance our critical IT platforms and services, ensuring optimal performance to empower our team both on and off the track.

You will work across a broad range of technologies, providing an escalation point for IT support queries while taking ownership of monitoring, administration, troubleshooting, and improvement initiatives within our IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as an escalation point for IT support, ensuring operational excellence and efficiency.
  • Support and maintain a wide range of infrastructure, including datacentres, storage platforms, VDI, VMware, physical servers, and associated interconnectivity.
  • Administer and troubleshoot Windows and Linux server workloads, virtual machines, clusters, and services.
  • Ensure infrastructure security, system protection, backup, restore, and disaster recovery capabilities.
  • Contribute to the continual improvement of ITIL Service Operation Processes (Incident, Problem, Event, Access Management, Request Fulfilment) and IT infrastructure services.
  • Provide administration and configuration support for IT Service Desk tools and project portfolios.
  • Maintain optimal performance across applications and infrastructure, keeping support and project backlogs within defined SLAs.
  • Participate in weekly Technical Review Boards and proactively upskill others within IT and the wider organisation.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Strong experience supporting enterprise-scale virtual and physical infrastructure, including datacentre environments, storage platforms (NetApp ONTAP, StorageGRID, DDN), and hybrid cloud solutions.
  • Deep understanding of Microsoft and Linux OS technologies, including Active Directory (with Kerberos authentication), DNS, DHCP, and certificate infrastructure (PKI, auto-enrolment, certificate management).
  • Solid grasp of enterprise network security including 802.1x, software-defined networking (preferably Juniper or Cisco), micro/macro segmentation, and least privilege access models.
  • Proficient with Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW), including Layer 7 policies and traditional rulesets — ideally Palo Alto, or Cisco/Checkpoint alternatives.
  • Experienced in Windows and Linux server administration, including VM management, clustering, backup/restore, and disaster recovery.
  • Skilled in SQL Server setup, performance tuning, HA/DR, and use of SSIS/SSRS.
  • Familiar with command-line tools, infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, and containerised environments such as Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of ITIL service operations, contributing to continual improvement in incident, problem, and change management.
  • Demonstrates strong security awareness and operational discipline in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
  • Basic administration knowledge of Digital Workspace Platforms (DWP).
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with a proactive approach to improving system performance and stability.
  • Excellent communication skills with a collaborative mindset, able to support and mentor others effectively.
