Job description
Infrastructure Engineer

£35,000 - £45,000

Hybrid Working (3 days on site)

I'm delighted to be supporting a growing, multi-site organisation that prides itself on a collaborative, open, and supportive working culture. Their IT function is well‑established, highly engaged, and genuinely team focused; a place where people share ideas, enjoy working together, and take real ownership of improving the environment.

They're now looking for a proactive Infrastructure Engineer to join their specialist IT team; someone who's excited about modernising systems, simplifying networks, and getting hands‑on with meaningful technical challenges across both on‑prem and Azure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and improve on‑prem and cloud infrastructure across several UK sites.
  • Lead on elements of network modernisation: simplifying legacy networks, supporting hardware refresh plans, and contributing to future WAN strategy.
  • Administer Azure services, with particular focus on Azure Front Door and WAF.
  • Monitor infrastructure health (via PRTG) and act as an escalation point during designated weeks.
  • Troubleshoot and support internally built applications backed by SQL and hosted across legacy IIS and Azure VMs.
  • Collaborate with security specialists on CE+ alignment, configuration changes, patching, and control implementation.
  • Work closely with developers, support teams, and third‑party suppliers to resolve issues and progress improvement work.
  • Maintain documentation, support DR testing, and contribute to maturing internal procedures.
Required Experience
  • Strong infrastructure knowledge across Windows Server, virtualisation, and core on‑prem technologies.
  • Solid networking understanding (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, firewalls).
  • Hands‑on experience with Azure services, ideally including Front Door and WAF.
  • Experience supporting IIS and SQL‑backed applications.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g. PRTG) and supporting multi‑site environments.
  • Experience producing documentation and supporting DR or continuity testing.
  • Confident communicator who enjoys working with others, takes ownership, and contributes proactively.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to UK or European sites when required.
