Job description

The full-time study programme for all learners requires them to undertake relevant internal and external Industry Placement and employability activities. The post holder will work with employers to find suitable placements and actively explore opportunities to help ensure all learners have access to meaningful placement opportunities. The post holder will also support the monitoring of placements and maximise other employer engagement opportunities where internal work experience is planned. The post holder will report to the Head of School for Health, Wellbeing, Hospitality & Lifestyle Studies at Royal Leamington Spa College.

Responsibilities:
  1. Coordinate the provision of Industry Placements for a nominal caseload of 16-18-year-old students studying Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy, and Barbering.
  2. Ensure relevant Health and Safety checks are carried out for each placement.
  3. Coordinate and record details of the provision for each student.
  4. Develop and maintain a broad base of employers to secure suitable work placements.
  5. Work closely with students' Personal Learning Advisors to place students in their chosen areas of work.
  6. Support placement providers and facilitate work placement opportunities.
  7. Collaborate with academic teams and Personal Learning Advisors to support students.
  8. Guide and support students to achieve successful work placements.
  9. Sustain good working relations with existing and new employers.
  10. Maintain a database of suitable work experience providers and input provider names into the College's CRM system.
  11. Provide regular reports for departmental managers.
  12. Arrange innovative work placements to benefit students.
  13. Attend external events to increase employer engagement and placement opportunities.
  14. Support college and departmental events and conferences.
  15. Promote Industry Placement positively and dynamically.
  16. Attend team and external meetings as required.
  17. Work independently and support team objectives, including facilitating positive student destinations.
  18. Be flexible, especially when dealing with busy employers.
  19. Record contact hours with students for funding claims and monitor completion of placement log books.
  20. Assist with other departmental duties, including open days and career events.
  21. Undertake CPD as required.
  22. Support the delivery of the T-Shaped Employability Framework.

During busy exam periods, you may be asked to undertake exam invigilator duties, with training provided. The list of duties is not exhaustive and may evolve.

Offers of Work:

A conditional offer will be made, subject to mandatory pre-employment checks including DBS, right to work, and other verifications.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:
  • GCSE Grade C or above in English and Mathematics, or Level 2 equivalent.
  • First Aid trained or willing to gain qualification.
  • Knowledge of IT systems, including email, internet, and software applications.
  • Excellent administrative, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
  • Experience with processes and systems like Excel and CRM packages.
  • Knowledge of the commercial sector.
Additional Information:

This is a term-time-only, pro-rata post with a salary of £11,359.43 - £12,125.81 per annum, depending on start date and remaining months of the academic year. Offers are subject to DBS check, references, occupational health clearance, safeguarding understanding, and qualification verification. An Enhanced DBS check is required as the role involves working within 'Regulated Activity'.
