Job summary

A logistics company in Coventry is seeking an Ocean Freight Coordinator to manage ocean freight shipments, overseeing everything from booking to final delivery. The ideal candidate will have experience in freight forwarding, know international shipping documentation well, and be proficient in using freight management systems. This full-time position involves working Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm in a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

Role Overview

Are you an experienced Ocean Freight professional looking for your next challenge? We’re looking for a proactive and detail-driven Ocean Freight Coordinator to join our growing team. If you thrive in a fast-paced logistics environment and enjoy seeing shipments through from start to finish, this could be the perfect role for you.

Full-time Monday to Friday 9am to 5.30pm.

Responsibilities
  • Managing FCL and LCL ocean freight shipments from initial booking through to final delivery
  • Acting as a key point of contact between shipping lines, hauliers, customers, overseas agents, and internal teams
  • Preparing and handling all essential shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin
  • Ensuring full compliance with Incoterms, customs regulations, and company procedures
  • Tracking shipments closely, anticipating and resolving delays or issues before they escalate
  • Providing regular, clear shipment updates to clients and maintaining accurate records
  • Entering and maintaining data accurately across freight management systems
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in ocean freight forwarding, ideally covering both imports and exports
  • Strong working knowledge of international shipping documentation and Incoterms
  • Experience using freight forwarding systems such as CargoWise, ASM Sequoia, BoxTop, or similar
  • A confident communicator with excellent coordination and organisational skills
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously
  • Understanding of global trade lanes, ports, and basic customs processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
