Overview

We are looking for a public health focused nurse, midwife or other healthcare professional to join our friendly and supportive team in Essex. The team works across the county providing immunisations in schools and community settings, including BCG and Hepatitis B programmes.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver immunisations across Essex to children and young people in schools and to all age groups in community clinics.
  • Support the development of the service and work with colleagues to ensure the delivery of a safe and effective school-age immunisation programme, including under-5s catch-up, BCG, antenatal vaccines and other commissioned programmes.
  • Deliver an effective and efficient Childhood Immunisation Programme in partnership with Children's Universal Services, schools and commissioners.
  • Collect accurate data at each session.
  • Work collaboratively with school nursing teams and child health teams to achieve KPIs across the programme.
  • Work with local statutory, private and voluntary providers and users to develop accessible, responsive services for all sections of the community, targeting the most vulnerable groups to support social inclusion.
  • Promote and monitor safe and effective practice.
  • Plan and deliver health promotion activities and public health initiatives in line with the School Age Childhood Immunisation Programme in partnership with the Children’s Universal Service team.
  • Provide and promote access to information and refer appropriately; liaise with statutory and non-statutory agencies and other health services colleagues.
  • Work with colleagues and other professionals to promote healthy lifestyles and healthy schools through health-promoting activities and health education in line with the Immunisation programme.
  • Support children, young people and families who are vulnerable or at risk in partnership with the Children’s Universal Service Team Leaders; adhere to Local Safeguarding Board and London Child Protection Procedures.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Public health–focused nurse, midwife or other healthcare professional with immunisation experience and ability to work with a variety of ages.
  • Ability to travel; must hold a full valid driving license and have access to a car for business use (unless disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).
