Overview

Are you ready to take on a hands-on role in Scotland’s thriving aquaculture sector? Whether you’re experienced in marine husbandry or looking to step into a rewarding operational role, we would love to hear from you.

About the role

As a Husbandry Technician, you’ll be part of a dedicated team responsible for the daily care and welfare of salmon stock at sea. Working closely with the Site Manager, Assistant Manager and Skipper, you’ll carry out feeding routines, monitor fish health and support the smooth running of site operations.

What you’ll be doing
  • Feeding and monitoring fish appetite to optimise growth and feed conversion
  • Operating manual and automatic feeding systems
  • Checking net integrity, removing mortalities and recording cause of death
  • Supporting grading, splitting and treatment operations
  • Maintaining walkways in a clean, tidy and safe manner
  • Upholding fish welfare and environmental standards
  • Following health & safety protocols
  • Relaying instructions and supporting junior staff where appropriate
  • Participating in weekend rota
What we’re looking for

While experience within a similar role is desirable, candidates with transferable skills and a passion for the aquaculture industry will also be considered. Full training will be provided and you’ll be supported every step of the way - including an ML5 medical and industry certifications at cost of the company.

This is a fantastic route into the marine aquaculture industry. However, experience in manual work, a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn are essential.

Pay & perks
  • Starting salary between £27,500 to £29,000 depending on experience
  • Overtime rates: x1.5 weekdays / x1.75 weekends
  • Accommodation: Part-subsidised housing available
Contract options
  • Permanent for experienced candidates
  • Temp to perm via agency for those new to the industry (hourly rate of £14.10/hour based on 37.5 hours/week equivalent)
