Position Overview

The Human Resources Manager at KEDC plays a key role in shaping a supportive and inspiring workplace where people feel valued and empowered to succeed. This position leads the full scope of HR functions, from recruitment and onboarding to employee relations, performance management, and professional development. Acting as a trusted partner to leadership, the HR Manager provides expertise in workforce planning, organizational development, and employee engagement while ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations. With a focus on collaboration, cultural awareness, and strong relationship-building, this role supports staff across the organization by offering guidance, resources, and opportunities for growth. The HR Manager also champions health, safety, and wellness initiatives, contributing to a thriving organizational culture. As the HR Manager, you will be responsible for these key functions:

  • Create, update, disseminate and enforce HR policies and ensure compliance with labour laws and regulations in all policy changes, benefits updates, training opportunities, compensation updates, etc. as requested by the CEO
  • Liaise, collaborate and action various HR functions, initiatives, projects and processes related to all functions within HR with CEO
  • Oversee the full-cycle recruitment process for KEDC position, including job postings, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding and support managers in recruitment for their operations
  • Manage benefits enrolment and answering related questions from employees
  • Complete onboarding tasks such as orientations, collecting new hire paperwork, and being a resource regarding employment information
  • Support KEDC safety initiatives and employee wellness programs, and act as KEDC Safety Representative

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration with a Human Resource Management concentration preferred
  • CPHR certification an asset
  • 2-3 years of experience working in an administrative human resources support role
  • Community centric, with the ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills
  • High level of self-awareness and emotional intelligence, and excellent interpersonal skills
  • The ability to establish working relationships with staff, Council, and a variety of governments, groups, knowledge keepers and/or Elders, and other stakeholders
  • Lived experience that aligns with the position is welcomed
  • Experience working in and with the Indigenous community is an asset
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal labour laws

This full-time 35-hours per week position, offers the opportunity to work fully remote, with occasional travel to KEDC, requiring the successful candidate to be located in the Courtenay/Comox region. The salary is between $80,000-$95,000.
