Job description

This role will be based out of our Lutterworth Distribution Centre, so candidates need to be ideally located to travel to and from site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Planning – Develop and manage daily, weekly, and seasonal plans for inbound and outbound operations. Ensure accurate forecasting of volumes and resource requirements (labour, vehicles, equipment). Monitor and adjust plans to meet service level agreements and customer expectations.
  • Capacity and Resource Management – Balance workload across shifts and teams to optimize productivity. Collaborate with Transport, Warehouse, and Central Planning teams to align schedules. Manage contingency plans for peak periods and unexpected disruptions.
  • Performance Analysis – Track KPIs such as on-time dispatch, cost per case, and labour efficiency. Use data analytics to identify trends and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Provide reports and insights to senior management for decision-making.
  • Compliance and Safety – Ensure all planning adheres to health and safety standards and legal requirements. Maintain compliance with Asda's operational policies and governance frameworks.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Act as the key liaison between hub operations and central planning. Communicate plans clearly to operational teams and adjust based on feedback.

  • Proficiency in planning tools and systems (e.g., WMS, TMS, Excel, SAP).
  • Analytical mindset with ability to interpret data and drive improvements.

  • Experience in a fast‑paced, high‑volume logistics environment.
Working Conditions

To ensure we balance moments where we know we need to collaborate together and the need for flexibility, Asda has a hybrid way of working with a minimum of 3 days a week in one of our Home Offices. Over and above this, each area of Asda may have additional requirements which may require spending more days in the office, visiting suppliers, stores or depots.
