Overview

As HSE Manager, you'll be the driving force behind health, safety, and environmental strategy. You'll provide expert guidance and leadership, ensuring the business not only meets but exceeds legal and industry standards. You'll design and implement robust management systems, inspire best practice, and empower teams to deliver a safe, compliant, and high-performing workplace.

This opportunity is with a large organisation in the food manufacturing industry, known for its commitment to quality and innovation. The company produces more than a billion products each year, supplying major supermarkets, convenience stores, hospitality venues, and travel outlets.

Responsibilities
  • Leading the planning, measurement, review, and audit of all HSE activities.
  • Setting and maintaining high standards for health, safety, and environmental performance.
  • Advising management on best practice and legal compliance.
  • Establishing and embedding effective HSE management systems.
  • Ensuring all customer, permit, and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Providing technical expertise and support to the management team.
  • Keeping the business up to date with new legislation and industry developments.
  • Building strong relationships with emergency services and regulatory agencies.
  • Compiling and communicating HSE performance data to inform business priorities.
  • Driving continuous improvement as a key member of the management team.
  • Ensuring HSE business plans are current, tracked, and actioned.
  • Delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Leading internal and external audits to maintain ISO 14001:2015 compliance.
  • Overseeing site security and maintaining environmental policies and manuals.
  • Conducting HSE management review meetings and maintaining legal registers.
Qualifications
  • NEBOSH Diploma (essential); Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH) preferred.
  • IEMA qualification desirable.
  • Strong background in Health, Safety & Environmental management, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
  • Technically strong, with the ability to provide accurate, detailed guidance.
  • Proactive, solutions-driven, and able to demonstrate a track record of achievement in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experienced in conducting HSE audits.
  • A true team player, passionate about making a difference and shaping the H&S agenda.
  • Robust, assertive, and able to remain decisive under pressure.
  • Confident operating at senior levels and representing the business externally.
