Salary: £47,181 to £51,356 per annum
Grade: M
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full Time, 37 hours per week
Location: Northallerton, North Yorkshire

About the Role

North Yorkshire Council is seeking a HR Advisory Team & Policy Lead to join our HR Advisory team. This pivotal role combines three key elements:

  • HR Casework: Act as the go‑to expert for a team of HR professionals, ensuring high‑quality advice and guidance across a wide range of casework; support more complex and senior‑level HR queries.
  • Line Management: Use leadership skills to develop and empower a small team of HR advisors. Provide coaching, support, and direction.
  • Policy & Data: Take a data‑informed approach to policy development. Analyse trends, horizon scan, ensure our policies remain robust and future‑ready. Work with other leaders to further develop our HR workforce dashboard.
Responsibilities
  • Provide high‑quality advice and guidance across a wide range of HR casework.
  • Support more complex and senior‑level HR queries.
  • Develop and empower a small team of HR advisors via coaching and direction.
  • Analyse data to inform policy decisions, horizon scan and ensure robust policies.
  • Collaborate across multiple HR functions and diverse stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Self‑motivated with in‑depth knowledge of employment legislation and policy.
  • Proven senior‑level HR casework experience.
  • Experience line managing a team.
  • Ability to use data in policy decisions.
  • Experience collaborating across functions (payroll, recruitment, etc.).
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
