HR Business Partner - Local Government

Rate: £300 per day (Inside IR35)

Contract: 3 months initially (with potential extension)

Location: Hybrid - 2 days per week in South London office

We are seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to join a local government authority on an initial 3-month contract. This role will provide strategic and operational HR support across a range of services, with a strong focus on employee relations, organisational change, and transformation programmes.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a trusted HR advisor, supporting managers across all people-related matters.
  • Manage complex employee relations casework with confidence, ensuring best practice and compliance.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to deliver workforce planning and change management initiatives.
  • Support organisational transformation programmes, driving cultural and structural improvements.
  • Produce clear, insightful HR reports and data analysis to inform leadership decision-making.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR policies and processes in line with local authority objectives.
Skills & Experience
  • Prior experience working within a local government authority (essential).
  • Proven track record as an HR Business Partner or Senior HR Advisor.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex ER cases and provide pragmatic solutions.
  • Experience of supporting organisational change and transformation.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
