A reputable law firm in Castleford is looking for an HR Assistant to support the HR department in daily operations. Your main responsibilities will include providing administrative assistance, assisting in recruitment processes, maintaining employee records, and ensuring compliance with employment laws and company policies. The ideal candidate should have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and basic knowledge of HR practices. This role requires being on-site five days a week.

Job title : HR Assistant

Reporting to : HR Manager

Company : Law Firm

Work Location : Castleford - 5 days per week in the office.

Role Summary :

The primary role as a HR Assistant is to assist with day-to-day operations of the HR functions and duties contributing to the attainment of specific goals and results of the HR department and the organisation as a whole. This will include (but will not be limited to) the responsibilities and duties listed below.

Job Responsibilities & Duties :

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support for the HR department
  • Assist HR with the process of recruitment, including sourcing and vetting candidates, assisting with interviews, issuing offer letters and employment contracts and completing pre-employment checks for new starters
  • Coordinate logistics for new hire orientations and onboarding
  • Take up and respond to reference requests
  • Support with internal and external inquiries and requests related to the HR department
  • Compile and maintain paper, digital and electronic employee records, including holiday and sickness leaves, ensuring data integrity
  • Enter employee data into computer database
  • Support with HR-related training programs, workshops and seminars
  • Oversee HR events and meetings and coordinating management-employee communications and taking minutes at meetings
  • Liaise with finance regarding monthly payroll changes
  • Support with Health and Safety and First Aid management
  • Assist with any ad hoc HR projects
  • Write and submit reports on general HR and Health & Safety activities
  • Continuously learn the latest HR best practices to improve workplace efficiency
  • Comply with company policy and procedure and any regulatory professional standards and requirements
  • Ensuring compliance with employment law and Data Protection legislation
