Job summary

A leading chilled food manufacturing company is seeking a talented HR Advisor to join their HR team in Tees Valley. You will support Employee Relations cases, advise managers, and manage site recruitment. Ideal candidates will possess strong organization and communication skills, ideally with experience in recruiting blue collar employees. This role provides an opportunity for hands-on involvement in HR activities across multiple shifts.

Overview

Join Our HR Team at The Compleat Food Group! We have a fantastic opportunity for a talented HR Advisor to join our dynamic and supportive HR team. Based at our site in Middlesbrough, you'll play a key role in supporting Employee Relations cases, advising managers, taking notes, and preparing essential documentation. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to take a hands-on approach to site recruitment. You’ll maintain a strong presence on the factory floor, conducting HR walkarounds, hosting welfare interviews, and staying engaged across shifts. You’ll lead communication efforts by updating notice boards and digital displays to keep everyone informed.

Working hours

The working hours are Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5pm.

Your duties will include
  • Provide case support for straightforward ER cases including notetaking, producing letters and packs
  • Tracking absences, highlighting where triggers have been met and supporting managers with absence and probation reviews
  • Note taking support in consultation processes (Change of terms, redundancy, TUPE) as required
  • Support activity to identify areas of improvement in terms of employee engagement and welfare through conducting HR walkarounds, welfare interviews, attending huddles etc. HR team should be visible in the factory and across shifts on a regular basis
  • Support activity to attract, retain and develop site – including involvement in talent mapping and succession planning
  • Manage all weekly paid recruitment activity at the site (Some sites may access central resource where volume is high). From advertising on Hireful to HRSS completing offer process
  • Maintaining local social media aligned to group branding and messaging (e.g. factory Facebook pages for recruitment and engagement purposes)
  • Back up trainer to lead site induction
  • Coach managers to complete activities across the employee lifecycle, for example interviews, performance reviews, grievance hearings, disciplinary hearings, appeals, return to work interviews, occupational health referrals, absence reviews, 9 box grid
  • Support onsite delivery of the group leadership programme as required
  • Ensure appropriate escalation of complex cases to SHRA or HRBP
  • Support the site SEDEX preparation, audit and SAQ completion
  • Update HR databases, trackers and reporting as required
  • Ability to accurately complete Right to Work checks
  • May form part of the site internal audit team or TACCP team
  • Complete worker interviews and support agency audits
  • Support to locker searches as required by the site
Your Skills and Experience
  • Excellent organisation and administrative skills including use of Excel, Word and HR Systems
  • Ideally experience of recruiting blue collar employees in a fast paced, high turnover industry
  • An aspiration or working towards CIPD Qualification to Level 5
  • Excellent communication skills
