Housing Support Worker - Harlow

Location: Harlow, Essex

Contract Type: Temp to Perm

Hours: Full-time, 40 including 5 hours lunch unpaid (shift work including weekends, early 7am-3pm / late 12:30-8:30pm, with 1 weekend in 4)

Pay Rate: £15.21ph PAYE / £20.08ph Umbrella

About the Role

Nacro are excited to introduce Essex NEST (Nacro Education Support and Transition), a new support provision focused on empowering young people aged 16-21. We are looking for Housing Support Workers to join our team in Harlow.

You\'ll manage your own caseload, supporting service users from entry through to independence. Working under a trauma-informed approach, you\'ll provide the right help at the right time to young people, care leavers, and vulnerable young parents.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver personalised support and safety plans with young people.
  • Support with housing, benefits, financial concerns, employment, training, and offending behaviour.
  • Liaise with offender managers, housing teams, and external agencies to provide cohesive support.
  • Maximise rent collection, ensuring benefit claims are submitted/maintained and arrears minimised.
  • Carry out regular monitoring, reviews, and updates in line with contract requirements.
  • Report maintenance issues and ensure properties are safe and well-maintained.
  • Lone working is required; no work from home.
Requirements
  • Full UK driving licence, own vehicle, and valid business insurance - essential.
  • Previous support work or criminal justice experience desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to work shifts and weekends as part of a rolling rota.
  • Enhanced DBS check (Children & Adults) required.
  • Ability to travel across the county (mileage claimable from nearest Nacro office).
