Job Summary

Housing Standards delivers a range of interventions to support vulnerable residents with housing-related issues, from grants to adapt properties to enforcement of rental standards that ensure safe and appropriate living conditions.

We’re offering an exciting opportunity to join our Housing Standards team as an apprentice, contributing to meaningful outcomes while studying for an accredited qualification. The successful candidate will develop the technical skills needed to support enforcement initiatives and grant programmes.

You’ll study for the Level 4 Regulatory Compliance Officer (Housing) apprenticeship, with dedicated study time during working hours. The course covers property defect identification, landlord engagement, and relevant legislation to ensure compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day team operations and deliver excellent customer service
  • Gain experience across a range of tasks, including liaising with agencies, contractors, and tenants
  • Assist in developing specifications for property adaptations
  • Help resolve housing condition issues and support vulnerable residents

About You

You’ll have a genuine interest in housing, both structural and occupational and be a customer-focused team player. Strong communication skills and time management are essential. You must also meet the minimum entry requirements for apprenticeships in England.

Minimum entry requirements for apprenticeships in England include:

English and maths at Level 2 (GCSE 4 and above / A-C). If you have not previously achieved these grades, or if you are unable to provide evidence of the qualifications, you may need to complete these qualifications during your apprenticeship training.

As this is a Level 4 Apprenticeship Regulatory Compliance Officer (Housing) Apprenticeship qualification, you should not already possess substantial skills or qualifications of the same level or higher, in this subject.

You must be a citizen of the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) or have lived in the UK or EEA for the past 3 consecutive years and have a Right to work in the UK.
