You will have the opportunity to work in various services within the Income team including the Welfare Benefits Team, Garage Team, Former Tenants Arrears and Temporary Accommodation Team as well working with other internal and external partners like Housing Benefit and Department of Work and Pensions.

What’s the role?

We are looking for an apprentice to join the busy Income Team for a period of 18 months. You will be involved with the following:

  • Provide general administrative support across the various teams in the Housing Income Team.
  • To support the collection of debts from residents, taking payments and notifying residents of their debts.
  • Facilitate the running of meetings, including scheduling, minute taking, distributing and following up actions.
  • To support the work of the Welfare Benefits Team, promoting and attending resident events.

The successful candidate will be able to work collaboratively with members of the housing teams and other departments both internal and external to the Council. Most importantly, you will have the skills to positively engage with members of the public.

This role is temporary for 18 months.

What we’re looking for

You should have passion and drive and be willing to learn quickly. There is currently an unprecedented demand on Housing Services and it is important that you will be able to prioritise your workload, carrying out essential administrative duties with ease.

Location

The job is primarily based in Laurence House, Catford, London, SE6 4RU but we operate a hybrid approach where you will be required to work both in the office and from home on a regular basis.

  • Be over the age of 16 (there is no upper age limit)
  • Be a Lewisham borough resident (the electoral register will be used to verify this information)
  • Have full residency entitlement, there must be no restrictions on your status in the UK (all successful candidates will need to produce their passport once a job offer is made)
