Overview

Temporarily funded for 3 years. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Homeless Prevention Officer to join our busy Housing Needs Team.

The emphasis of the post will be to prevent homelessness wherever possible by providing support for customers at threat of losing their homes in a range of situations, including negotiating with mortgage lenders, social and private landlords, and social and welfare support agencies, whilst taking into account the clients housing and support needs.

Responsibilities
  • Prevent homelessness wherever possible by providing support for customers at risk of losing their homes.
  • Negotiate with mortgage lenders, social and private landlords, and social and welfare support agencies to support clients’ housing and support needs.
  • Work closely with housing needs officers to contribute to the decision-making process under national legislation.
  • Assess needs and offer housing advice to the public, and identify appropriate solutions to housing needs problems.
  • Engage in multi-agency and multi-disciplinary working in relation to housing needs.
  • Work with landlords to prevent evictions and enable clients to access good quality private rented accommodation.
  • Work under pressure in demanding situations and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
Qualifications
  • Experience of assessing needs and offering housing advice to the public, including achievement of appropriate solutions to housing needs problems.
  • Experience in multi-agency and multi-disciplinary working in relation to housing needs.
  • Experience of working with landlords to prevent evictions and to enable access to good quality private rented accommodation.
