Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Secondary School - Northolt - Immediate / January 2026 Start - Full-Time

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant or HLTA looking to take the next step in a secondary school setting? Do you want a varied, rewarding role where you can lead learning, support pupils' progress, and make a real impact?

Tradewind Recruitment are working with welcoming and well-regarded secondary schools in Northolt who are seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis, with an immediate or January 2026 start.

This role is ideal for confident support staff who enjoy working closely with teachers, leading interventions, and supporting pupils across the curriculum.

HLTA - Role Overview
  • Delivering pre-planned lessons and covering classes in the absence of the teacher.
  • Leading small group and one-to-one interventions to support progress and attainment.
  • Supporting pupils with SEND, EAL, or additional learning needs.
  • Assisting with lesson planning, resource preparation, and assessment activities.
  • Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies and maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Supporting pupils with homework, coursework, and exam preparation.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams.
Requirements
  • HLTA status or significant experience working at a higher-level TA capacity.
  • Proven experience supporting students in a secondary school setting.
  • Strong behaviour management and classroom leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • A proactive, adaptable, and supportive approach.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
