KS2 Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Full Time Monday to Friday Temp to Possible Perm Start ASAP or January 2026

A welcoming and well-regarded primary school is seeking a confident and capable KS2 Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner who can inspire, motivate and support pupils across Key Stage 2, while also taking on responsibility for leading learning when required.

The school is known for its warm, nurturing ethos and strong commitment to supporting pupils' academic, social and emotional development. You will be joining a dedicated staff team who work collaboratively to ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading whole-class learning in KS2 during teacher absence or as directed
  • Delivering small-group and 1:1 interventions to support progress
  • Supporting teaching and learning across the KS2 curriculum
  • Assisting with planning, preparation and assessment under teacher guidance
  • Promoting a calm, structured and positive learning environment
  • Working closely with teachers, support staff and senior leaders
  • Full-time position, Monday to Friday
  • Temporary role with potential to become permanent
Person Specification
  • HLTA status or significant KS2 classroom experience
  • Confident in leading learning and managing a class
  • Strong understanding of the KS2 curriculum
  • Positive, proactive and able to use initiative
  • Warm, approachable and able to build strong relationships with pupils
  • Resilient, professional and committed to inclusive practice
  • Experience supporting pupils with additional needs is desirable but not essential
