Overview

Discovery Special Academy is seeking to appoint a pro-active, enthusiastic, energetic and reliable Emotional Wellbeing and Behaviour Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join the Tees Valley Education Trust and the growing academy. This position would work with pupils from Nursery to Year 11 with complex learning, sensory, communication and behaviour needs. You will contribute to and participate in the team-working ethos of the provision while maintaining its core values.

Responsibilities
  • Enable children and young people to be successful through supporting excellent attitudes towards learning and behaviour.
  • Support children and young people’s emotional wellbeing, enabling them to be kept safe.
What we are looking for
  • Emotional Wellbeing and Behaviour HLTA who is confident, a strong communicator and a team worker, to provide emotional and behavioural support to pupils across the academy.
  • Positive, emotionally resilient and have a holistic approach in supporting the needs of vulnerable children and young people.
  • Understanding of the reasons for behaviour choices and the ability to put strategies into place to support pupils and the academy.
  • Proven experience of working directly with children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties is essential.
  • Experience with de-escalation strategies; the role may require physically handling pupils using an approved programme, so the successful candidate must be physically fit for this aspect.

Salary and Hours

Salary: NJC SCP 17 £31,021 Actual Salary (£28,861) TTO - plus 20 days. Hours: 37 hours. Reporting to: Executive Headteacher.

About the Trust

The Trust was established in 2015 and provides education and enrichment activities to more than 1100 children across five Academies, located in Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland local authority areas. Academies within the Trust are:
