Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Location: Havering, Essex
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Here at Protocol we work closely with a range of primary schools in the Havering area. We are currently looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team. If you're looking for a role where you can make a real difference in the classroom while working in a supportive and dynamic environment, this is the perfect opportunity for you!

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support teaching and learning across primary schools, working with small groups or providing 1:1 support to help children reach their potential.

  • Plan and deliver lessons and activities under the direction of the classroom teacher, particularly for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

  • Assist with classroom management, ensuring a positive, engaging, and safe learning environment.

  • Track and assess student progress, providing feedback to inform planning and next steps in learning.

  • Build strong relationships with students, teachers, and school staff to contribute to a nurturing educational environment.

  • Support students with additional needs, tailoring learning experiences to ensure inclusivity and accessibility for all.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • A Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent), or be working towards HLTA status.

  • Experience of working as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school, with a good understanding of child development and educational practices.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, staff, and parents.

  • Strong organizational skills, able to manage tasks efficiently and adapt to changing classroom needs.

  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to supporting children’s learning and well-being.

  • A positive and proactive attitude, with the ability to motivate and inspire children to reach their full potential.

  • A commitment to professional development, with a desire to continue learning and growing in the education sector.
