Job summary

A leading logistics company in Hinckley is seeking an experienced HGV Workshop Technician / Mechanic. You will maintain and service a fleet of vehicles, with duties including fault diagnostics and MOT preparation. The ideal candidate has experience in heavy goods and is ideally Level 3 trained in Vehicle Maintenance. Offering a competitive salary of £51,314.32 plus a 15% bonus and numerous employee benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a similar Heavy Goods or Heavy Plant role.
• Ideally Level 3 trained in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Knowledge of yellow goods repairs is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and maintaining a fleet of approximately 1500 vehicles.
• Conducting fault diagnostics on vehicles.
• Preparing vehicles for MOT inspections.

Skills

Experience in Heavy Goods or Heavy Plant roles

Knowledge of repairs on Mercedes, DAF, Dennis, Volvo and Renault vehicles

Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced and highly motivated HGV Workshop Technician / Mechanic to join our team of highly skilled technicians.

As the successful HGV Technician / Mechanic you will report to the Vehicle Maintenance Unit Manager and be a key member of the team. Working in a time critical distribution environment, your key accountabilities will include;

• Servicing and maintaining DPD’s fleet of approximately 1500 Mercedes Benz tractor units and 2700 trailers.
• Fault Diagnostics on vehicles
• MOT Preparation for the vehicles
• Weekly/ monthly checks of HGV vehicles
• Mechanical and Electrical repairs on vehicles
• Since November 2022 over 60% of our HGV Fleet use Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (HVO)

Qualifications

As the successful candidate you will have had experience working within a similar Heavy Goods or Heavy Plant role, or have knowledge of yellow goods repairs. Ideally you will be Level 3 trained in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or be a time served technician.

You will have knowledge of working on Mercedes, DAF, Dennis, Volvo and Renault vehicles.

It would be advantageous if you were irtech licence qualified however this is not essential as we can provide further accreditation for this.

A LGV Class 1 Driving Licence is desirable for this role but not essential.
