HGV Technician / HGV Fitter / Heavy Vehicle Mechanic

Location: Sherburn in Elmet, Leeds

Salary: Approximately £47,930 per annum

Alecto Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a long-established, reputable commercial vehicle operation. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join their fully equipped workshop in Sherburn in Elmet. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician looking for a stable, long-term role with strong earnings and regular working hours.

Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance
• City & Guilds equivalent
• Strong experience working on HGVs

You must be able to diagnose faults, complete repairs to manufacturer standards, and maintain a high level of professionalism and safety.

Responsibilities

• Routine inspections, servicing and general maintenance
• Fault diagnosis and accurate reporting
• Completing repairs to current manufacturer standards
• Managing diagnostics and ordering parts efficiently
• Ensuring all work is completed correctly the first time and within given deadlines
• Working closely with the Workshop Manager and wider team

Following skills are advantageous but not essential

• Knowledge of cranes or hydraulics
• Experience with tippers, tipper grabs or beaver tails
• Familiarity with the latest diagnostic software
• Class 1 (C+E) or Class 2 (C) licence (car licence holders still considered)

Hours & Salary Breakdown

Hours: Monday to Friday - 06:45 to 16:45 (30-minute unpaid lunch break)

Daily Pay Structure:

• 8 hours @ £18.00: £144.00 per day
• 1.5 hours @ £27.00: £40.50 per day

Weekly Total: £720.00 + £202.50 = £922.50

Annual Earnings: £47,930.00
