Job description
HGV Class 2 Hiab Driver

Looking for a professional, enthusiastic, and flexible HGV Class 2 Hiab Driver to join the in Lanarkshire, a fast paced & varied role. Start times are between 6am and 8am and you will be working around 8/12‑hour days. Overtime paid at time and a half, after 42.5 hours.

General Description

As a professional HGV Class 2 Hiab Driver, you will be responsible for the delivery and collection of company assets throughout the UK. There may be occasions where you will be required to work away. Your role will include various duties, including being fully responsible for safe operation and road worthiness of the vehicle you are allocated to drive and the safety and security of the load you are transporting. The successful HGV Class 2 Hiab Driver will need to have good customer service and communication skills as you will be directly dealing with customers daily.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Complete walk round and safety checks daily
  • Identify and report any vehicle defect immediately
  • Load and secure equipment accordingly
  • Fully comply with EU directive on drivers' hours and tachographs
  • Fully comply with the highway code
Quality
  • Ensure assets are delivered to a high standard
  • Ensure vehicle & cab is kept clean
Delivery
  • Complete workloads
  • Ensure delivery/collections are completed on time and in full
  • Plan routes effectively
Essential Skills
  • Full understanding of EU drivers' hours and working time laws
  • Category C entitlement
  • Valid DCPC card
  • Ability to carry out pre‑use safety checks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Flexible, highly motivated, effective team player
  • Able to learn and assimilate new information
Desirable Experience
  • 1 year driving experience within construction sector
  • 1 year lorry loader experience
  • (New pass drivers will be considered)
  • Clean driving licence
  • Category C+E entitlement
  • ALLMI unlimited lorry loader training OR CPCS lorry loader (HOOK)
