Job description

Candour Talent is recruiting an HGV Class 1 Driver to join their client's team in the Newport area.

Employment Type: Permanent/Full Time

Working Hours: Monday to Friday - 45‑60 hours + 2 nights out per week on average

Salary: £38,500 + bonus + medical insurance + company pension + EAP

Role
  • Transport goods and product as instructed and against a schedule between Head Office and customer sites
  • Assist in planning routes and meet delivery schedules
  • Manoeuvre trucks into loading or unloading positions and assist with loading and unloading
  • Ensure verification checks of contents are undertaken at times of both loading and unloading and transport documentation packs carried
  • Ensure loads are both safe and secured
  • Report defects, accidents, or violations
  • Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues including statutory daily walk around check
  • Comply with truck driving rules and regulations
  • Complete 'driver's records' and 'timesheets' and retain fuel/toll receipts
  • Adhere to all Tachograph, Driver and Road Regulations as well as with company policies and procedures
  • Maintain the highest professional driving standards
  • Complete all legal and customer relevant paperwork
  • Deliver exceptional customer service skills to both internal and external employees or customers
Ideal Candidate
  • A valid HGV Class 1 licence (C+E)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience
  • A digital tachograph card and full CPC
  • Role will require a CRB clearance
  • ADR qualification preferred but not essential
  • Able to work as part of a team and on own initiative
  • Strong time management
  • Prioritise task to meet business needs
