Responsibilities
- Lead a front‑line engineering team while maintaining a strong customer‑focused approach.
- Respond to service calls and support the 24/7 call‑out schedule.
- Assist line managers in resolving technical issues and reducing repeat or nuisance service calls.
- Coordinate a team of engineers to ensure high‑quality service delivery and fulfil maintenance contract obligations.
- Promote system improvements or modifications based on site assessments.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop service technicians, fostering training and motivation.
- Analyse job reports in a timely manner where needed.
- Provide technical support to internal teams and customers.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Quality regulations, striving to exceed industry standards.
- Review and interpret customer requirements to ensure high satisfaction levels.
- Assist with site‑coordination tasks and support the planning and organisation of the standby rota.
- Encourage a positive team climate to drive morale and motivation.
- Support capacity planning and work scheduling processes.
- Make purchasing decisions when required to support efficient and cost‑effective execution.
- Provide coaching and technical guidance to engineers and apprentices.
- Keep front‑line teams updated on safety standards and use of safety equipment.
- Champion a strong safety culture.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in refrigeration servicing and maintenance.
- Hands‑on technical industry experience operating and maintaining industrial machinery.
- Background in mechanical or electrical engineering.
- City & Guilds 2079 qualification (essential).
- City & Guilds 2078 (Ammonia) qualification (preferred).
- Strong understanding of industrial and commercial heating & refrigeration systems.
- High level of technical expertise across a variety of machinery.
- Demonstrated ethical, trustworthy and reliable conduct.
- Solution‑focused mindset with solid product and systems knowledge.
- Up‑to‑date awareness of industry developments.
- Ability to build and maintain long‑term customer relationships.
- Legal right to work in the UK (sponsorship cannot be provided).
About the role
Salary: £31,500 per annum (plus benefits). Hours: Monday to Friday, 6 am to 2 pm. Location: Commutable from Nottingham, Coventry, Leicester, Birmingham and surrounding areas.
