Job description
Overview

Advanced Otology/Cochlear Implantation Fellow – 12 months, commencing September 2026. This post provides senior trainees who have completed the majority of their training with an opportunity to gain further experience in all aspects of otology, cochlear implantation and skull base surgery as part of a large and well established multidisciplinary team. Duties are at the Queen’s Medical Centre Campus, Nottingham University Hospitals.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in a 1 in 7 “hot week” cover arrangement, to participate in the middle tier of on-call provision, and to help with the training and supervision of more junior SpRs and new junior doctors (F2 – ST2).
  • Support the training and supervision of junior trainees as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Location

The duties are at the Queen’s Medical Centre Campus, Nottingham University Hospitals.

Department and Facilities

Nottingham ENT department provides a comprehensive range of ORL-HNS services, organised on a sub specialty basis. The department is in a purpose built building shared with Ophthalmology. Facilities include a 34 bedded inpatient/day case ward (adult, shared with Maxillofacial Surgery and Ophthalmology) and a 22 bedded paediatric ward. There are 3 ENT operating theatres with equipment including 4K Karl Storz endoscopy stacks, microscopes and navigation, with new otology drills and state‑of‑the‑art videoendoscopic equipment for outpatient use worth over £600k.
