Paediatric (Children’s) Healthcare Support Worker – BAND 3

RAIGMORE HOSPITAL, INVERNESS – WOMAN & CHILD HEALTH – PAEDIATRICS COMPLEX CARE

Permanent – Salary scale: £28,011 – £30,230 pro rata per annum

Role Overview

The Paediatric Complex Care team is expanding due to an increase in children being referred to the service. The Complex Care Team supports children and their families across NHS Highland in the home environment and wider community. This post is a very rewarding opportunity to enable children/families to access education, allow parents to have a restful sleep knowing their child is cared for to a high standard.

Responsibilities
  • Accompany children and families during school/nursery, hospital appointments/admissions, outings and respite during shifts.
  • Provide direct responsibility for the child’s healthcare needs within a set of guidelines and protocols.
  • Work flexible, day, evening, weekend and night shifts as part of a 24/7 service.
  • Travel to various locations within NHS Highland; reimbursement of travel expenses and accommodation for stays.
  • Maintain competence through achieved competency structures and support from the team leader.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Essential experience of working with children and/or community care.
  • Driving licence and access to own car essential.
Training & Competency

Training and support will be provided to achieve various tasks and skills with assessed competency. Training takes approximately 8 weeks. Following training and assessment, the post holder will lone work with the child/family with direct responsibility for the child’s healthcare needs.

Shift & Travel Requirements

The post holder is expected to work a variety of day, evening, weekend and night shifts. Travel is an essential part of the role; travel expenses will be reimbursed and accommodation will be provided for stays.
