Overview

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Support Worker to join the team at HMP Bullingdon - a Category B male remand and resettlement prison near Bicester.

This role offers experience across primary care, mental health and substance misuse including emergency response, working on the wings, clinics, health promotion, and more. No two days are the same in this challenging, yet rewarding and supportive environment.

Job details

Hours: This is a full-time role, an average of 37.5 hours per week, with shifts between Monday and Sunday, including weekends and nights. Shift patterns are 07:30 - 17:30, 07:30 - 19:30, 19:30 - 07:30. Rota available 6 weeks in advance.

Salary: £26,586 - £30,684 per annum, depending on experience.

New Healthcare Assistant will
  • Ideally hold an NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Healthcare
  • Have experience in a care setting previously - ideally from a hospital or prison setting; experience within A&E would be beneficial
  • Any experience in a prison / secure setting or hospital would be a bonus
  • Have a non-judgemental and compassionate approach - we want someone who really cares about others and wants to make a difference

Job responsibilities

As our Healthcare Support Worker, your responsibilities will vary and include:

  • Work across primary care, including clinics, primary care, health promotion, bloods, obs, wound care, etc.
  • Carry out induction duties, reviewing new patients to the prison and assessing, including obs and urine samples
  • Work within Early Days in Custody
  • Work within substance misuse and inpatients
  • Be involved in bloods and vaccination clinics
  • Respond to emergency situations as necessary
  • Ensure continuity of care for all patients and deliver outstanding care
  • Contribute to, and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics
