Job description

Our theatres are entering an exciting phase of transformation, with new services and facilities planned across both sites--The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and The Princess Royal Hospital. If successful, you will be based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, however there may be a requirement to occasionally work cross-site, depending on clinical need. Working as part of a team you will provide exceptional care for each patient, only ever caring for one patient at a time, enabling you to ensure you are always doing your very best for every patient every time. You'll play an essential role in the smooth running of our theatres and help us maintain our exceptional levels of care.

Theatre HCA's assist the wider theatre team with the safe passage of patients through the surgical pathway. The department currently provides a 24-hour, seven-day emergency surgical service cross-site. Therefore, flexibility and a commitment to an on-call shift system is essential.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the wider theatre team with the safe passage of patients through the surgical pathway and support the department’s 24-hour, seven-day emergency surgical service cross-site.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the theatres and help maintain exceptional levels of patient care, caring for one patient at a time as part of a team.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Essential that you possess GCSEs Grade A-C (9-4) or equivalent in Maths and English in order to apply for this post.
  • Previous theatre experience is desirable; relevant training to achieve the required standards will be given. Applications are welcome from individuals who have completed health-related T-Levels or BTEC Health & Social Care courses.
Development and Support
  • Joining us, you'll be part of our "Grow Your Own" workforce programme. This provides clear routes into further development, including the Nursing Associate or Operating Department Practitioner apprenticeship.
  • You will be supported throughout your induction, with a dedicated Theatre Professional Development team, a personal 'HCA Buddy', and regular feedback to help you feel confident in your role.

If you're ready to make a real difference and grow your career in a supportive environment, we'd love to hear from you.
