Job description

An exciting opportunity to work as part of the Gynaecology oncology nursing team providing compassionate care to patients, service users, carers and families. Working cross site in the community diagnostic centre, supporting clinics for patients having investigations on a 2‑week cancer fast‑track pathway.

This is a pivotal role that is essential in providing care and support to patients and service users through direct and indirect care, working within clearly defined limits and attainment of agreed competence.

Main Responsibilities
  • Join the clinical team within the Gynaecology oncology Outpatient Service and undertake all clinical duties required, working without direct supervision and using own initiative within the competency level set for this post.
  • Support and reassure patients during clinical procedures or treatment, ensuring that patient privacy and dignity are always respected.
  • Optimize patient care by communicating relevant information in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure and maintain cleanliness and organisation in all areas of the outpatient department, in line with infection control audits and regular inspections.
  • Promote the professional image of the Trust by maintaining a neat appearance and helpful manner, delivering high standards of care in accordance with the Trust’s policy quality standards and the Patient’s Charter.
  • Observe all Trust policies and working practices, particularly with respect to confidentiality.
  • Attend unit and multidisciplinary team meetings as required.
  • Respond to queries promptly, answering the telephone efficiently and conveying messages to the appropriate personnel.
  • Collect and input relevant data into the database, ensuring it is kept up to date; carry out additional administrative duties related to data collection.
  • Participate in all areas of clinical support required for the team, including supporting the 2‑week diagnostic clinic and assisting the clinic and nurse in clinic.
