Job summary

A healthcare service provider in the UK is seeking individuals to undertake various patient care responsibilities, including confirming identities, safeguarding, vital signs monitoring, and clinical activities under nurse supervision. The role requires attention to detail and a commitment to promoting health and well-being. Candidates will also manage laboratory samples and assist with vaccinations. Experience in healthcare is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Confirming the identity of patients before carrying out any procedures.
  • Responsible for identifying and acting on safeguarding concerns.
  • Accurately measure weight and height, calculate BMI and recognise healthy ranges.
  • Use manual techniques and devices to record and interpret vital signs.
  • Undertake venepuncture and routine ECG monitoring.
  • Manage and report on sputum, urine, stool and vomit samples.
  • Monitor wounds and undertake wound care under supervision.
  • Provide vaccinations and injections as per specific directions.
  • Screen patients for NHS Health Checks and mental health reviews.
  • Process and manage laboratory samples.
  • Control stock and order clinical items and immunisations.
  • Monitor and record vaccine/cold chain storage.
  • Prepare and maintain environments and equipment for patient care.
  • Perform chaperoning duties.
  • Assist in the assessment of patients' health.
  • Promote health and well-being awareness.
  • Ensure infection control and safe waste disposal.
  • Complete tasks on behalf of the GP pre or post appointment.
Job description
Job Responsibilities
  • Confirming the identity of patients before carrying out any procedures
  • Responsible for identifying and acting on safeguarding concerns
  • Accurately measure weight and height, calculate BMI and recognise healthy ranges and clinically significant low/high readings
  • Use manual techniques and devices to record and interpret vital signs
  • Undertake venepuncture and routine ECG monitoring
  • Manage sputum, urine, stool and vomit samples, collecting, interpreting and reporting as appropriate INR monitoring
  • Monitor wounds and undertake wound care using appropriate evidence based techniques, including leg ulceration, under supervision of a registered nurse
  • Undertaking clinical activities for named patients have been identified by patient specific direction, including influenza vaccine, pneumonia vaccine, B12 and prostap injections
  • Screening of patients for NHS Health Checks, mental health reviews and memory assessments
  • Processing and management of laboratory samples
  • Stock control and ordering of clinical items and immunisations
  • Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
  • Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions
  • Chaperoning duties
  • Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being
  • Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
  • Infection control use standard precautions, effective hand hygiene techniques, effective decontamination of equipment and the environment techniques and safely handle and dispose of waste
  • Complete tasks on behalf of the GP pre or post appointment
