Overview

Job Summary: We are looking for Health care support workers to join our District Nursing Team based in Darlington.

Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care to a variety of patients within their own home or living environment, including insulin administration, wound care, sample collection (venepuncture), and recording observations.
  • Carry out basic wound care, clinical observations, administer insulin, and provide general care and support to patients and their families. Full training can be given and care scheduled by a registrant.
  • Work as a lone worker.
About Us

We provide hospital services from two acute sites—Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham—and operate a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland, with community care from hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale, as well as over 80 other community-based settings and care in patients\' homes.

Person Specification
Essential Personal Attributes
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to engage and build effective relationships at all levels
  • Understanding of the role of Health Care Support Worker (HCSW)
  • Able to work as part of a team and maintain confidentiality
Qualifications
  • Relevant NVQ Level 3 or equivalent relevant experience
  • Care Certificate or willingness to complete within first 6 months of commencement
  • GCSE equivalent in English and Mathematics
