Job Title: Health & Safety Manager

Salary: circa £46,000 - £50,000 depending on experience

Location: the role is based at our head office in Stoneleigh Warwickshire with regular travel to our regional office sites.

Working Hours: 35 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent

Overview

The National Farmers' Union (NFU) is the biggest farming organisation in the UK. We are responsible for leading on issues from climate change and food standards to rural crime and broadband rollout, and we shape attitudes towards British farming for our members.

Purpose of the role

To lead the organisation's health and safety agenda, ensuring compliance with statutory duties and promoting a culture of safety, wellbeing, and proactive risk management. This role covers both headquarters-based office environments and a regional workforce; some office-based working and travel to regional teams across the country will be required. Duties include auditing, creating suitable documentation, training staff in required processes/procedures, and ensuring Health, Safety and Wellbeing policies are followed nationwide. The postholder will also be responsible for managing health and safety-related procurement and budgets.

There are no direct line reports with this post, but the ability to communicate, educate and engage with staff at all levels is critical.

What you'll bring

We are seeking a team player and excellent communicator who is passionate about keeping our people safe and healthy.

Ideally you will hold CMIOSH status (Chartered membership of IOSH), or be working towards it. A diploma or equivalent qualification in Health and Safety is highly desirable; at minimum you will hold the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Health and Safety.

Candidates will ideally have several years of experience in a similar health and safety role; some knowledge of agriculture would be hugely beneficial.
